Speaking Anxiety in Students and its Impact on Learning English Language in the Classroom

This paper aims to analyze English speaking anxiety in the students who study English as a Second Language at University Level. This paper will examine the reasons that hinder the process of speaking English in the ESL students who study English as their major course at University Level. The Research tools will be Focus group discussion that will directly contribute to the Qualitative Research Methodology as it quantifies the relationship between students and their anxiety of speaking English. The participants were selected through Convenient Data Sampling Method for focus discussion. The findings revealed that the pronunciation, syntactic structures, insufficient lexical knowledge, fear of negative evaluation, role of a teacher, financial and social factors are the main causes of English-speaking anxiety among English majors.
